Emancipation Day 2016

Ms. Dianne Cross will present "A Long Overdue Story" at the Sandy Spring Slave Museum

Dianne's presentation will be followed at 1:30pm by the documentary:

Community Cornerstones: African Americans in Montgomery County

Community Cornerstones, an hour-long documentary produced by Heritage Montgomery, presents reminiscences by elders from 5 historic African American churches. Taken together, their words explain how these communities developed, illustrate life in segregated times, and convey their pride in the accomplishments of their ancestors. Because music is such an integral part of the African American experience, choirs associated with each featured church perform on the soundtrack.

A news video about the documentary can be found here.
